Executive Director Update – November 2019
The fires in Northern and Southern California the past few weeks continue to reveal how interconnected we are. In addition to the community, economic and environmental damage, a burning forest produces toxic air and infrastructure loss 80 miles away. Everywhere there are great challenges to water, habitat, family, systems. On Tuesday 11,000 scientist signatories from around the planet asked the world to address the climate emergency we are facing. For us at ReScape it affirms that we must continue to do our work of education, advocacy and policy change, and it spurs us on to continue.
Based on requests and identified needs, we have created an additional training: the Qualification Renewal Training (QRT). It is a day-long training that reviews our eight whole-systems principles, and is a deeper dive into several topics about which there are evolving best practice and continuing education/certification requirements. Some examples are green stormwater infrastructure, planting design and habitat diversity, integrated pest management and irrigation. The QRT fulfills ReScape qualification renewal and CEU requirements – plus you get and additional year of membership! Join us for our first QRT on 10 December in South San Francisco at the South San Francisco City Council Chambers.
We are also upgrading our Membership program and CEU requirements in 2020 to make it easier for you to receive the required CEU’s. Stay tuned for more information.
As we move into the holidays we have several event opportunities for you to stay involved and connected to our community: on 10 December the Qualification Renewal Training (QRT). We are kicking off our newly established Regional Members-only events, “Chat & Cheers.” With a focus on business-building tips for you, and an opportunity to meet up with your colleagues, the first one is 12 December in San Rafael, and 9 January in Sacramento. Join us!
We are grateful for your participation and ask that you continue to keep those questions, suggestions, and requests coming. Together we can do it.
