Executive Director Update, Giving Tuesday – December 2019

Today is Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world on December 3rd, and every day. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community. It seems apt that we at ReScape are sending a message asking you to join us in our work. Our whole systems regenerative landscape practices work is very local (one landscape at a time), and simultaneously in concert with the global community working on millions of acres of land for water protection and savings, soil health, habitat protection, clean air, carbon sequestration. Your support fuels our activities and inspires our efforts in this world where we must grieve what we have lost (water, habitat, family, land, species, housing, health). The best science indicates that we have a narrow window to each do our part and together make the changes necessary to slow global warming. We have accomplished much this year, and with your continued support and involvement we can together do more. Now, more than ever, we need to lift up and celebrate those values that bring us together and create joy. We need more generosity in the world – join us!

Another way to support ReScape is to become a member. Let’s work together to mitigate climate change, enhance the health of people and wildlife, and purify water—all while creating vibrant landscapes and gardens. As a member you are supporting healthy and sustainable landscapes throughout California and join a community of like-minded individuals and business working together to design, build and maintain regenerative gardens and landscapes.

Starting in January 2020 we have added the requirement for an additional Continuing Education Unit (CEU) to retain your qualification. You are now required to take 3 CEU’s. We did this because with the current challenges of our time there is evolving best practices and information about regenerative practices. In December and January you have several opportunities to stay current: Qualification Renewal (QRT) in South San Francisco on 10 December. The QRT fulfills ReScape qualification renewal and CEU requirements for two years- you get an additional year of membership!

Join us for a Members-only Chat & Cheers with Aaron Majors in San Rafael on December 12th and in Sacramento on January 9th. January 22, 2020 starts a four-day Maintenance Qualification Training (MQT) in Oakland, CA that initiates a several year plan to work with the Oakland Public Library to educate about and upgrade their 18 branches.

Much gratitude to you. Have rejuvenating and love-filled holidays.

Milena Fiore
Executive Director
