Classroom and hands-on practice in the field

Thousands of existing irrigation systems in California that waste water and/or water plants incorrectly need your help. You don’t have to be an irrigation expert to make observations and recommendations for repairs and upgrades. Join us in this two-part classroom/field workshop, and come away with the skills and resources to either add irrigation assessment to your services, or strengthen your existing practice.

Schedule Overview:

9:00 am – 11:00 am Classroom

We’ll step through the process of irrigation assessments, and provide you with data collection and report templates. You’ll also get plugged into resources – both written and human, that can assist you in this venture.

11:00 am – 11:45 pm Lunch on your own

11:45 am- 1:45 pm “Hands On” Experience

For the second part of this workshop, we’ll head out into the field, and perform an irrigation assessment. We’ll immediately put into practice what we learned in the classroom.

About the Speaker: 

Lori Palmquist, has worked in the landscape trade for 28 years. During that time, she has been a maintenance gardener, a certified arborist, landscape contractor, irrigation contractor, and irrigation designer and consultant. She now describes herself as a landscape water-efficiency evangelist. She is an Irrigation Association certified irrigation designer, contractor, water manager, and irrigation auditor. She has been teaching irrigation and water management for QWEL, Bay-Friendly, Green Gardener, Master Gardeners, and homeowners for the past 10 years. Lori’s latest passion is creating web applications to make water management, irrigation design and installation more user-friendly. She has created 13 apps and websites to date, and has another nearing completion.
