Assessing Urban Trees

Identifying, Assessing and Mitigating Tree Risk


This workshop session will address the risks associated with urban trees, and how to identify, assess and mitigate tree risk. Participants will be guided through the assessment process using ISA tree risk assessment forms in combination with tree risk mitigation techniques. The classroom session will provide a discussion of relevant urban tree hazard issues along with a field portion practicing utilizing the ISA Basic Tree Risk Assessment form.


About the Speaker

Keith Park is a horticulturalist and certified arborist for the National Park Service’s John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez, CA. Keith holds a BS in Environmental Horticulture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and an MS in Historic Preservation from Goucher College in Towson, MD. He is dedicated to educating and engaging people through landscape studies and has specific experience in public and private estate management.
